hdc – half double crochet
dc – double crochet
sc – single crochet
sk – skip
st(s) – stitch(es)
t-ch – turning chain
* – indicates instructions to be repeated
[] – indicates instructions to be worked in one stitch

Multiple:

Multiple of 3+1

Gauge:

4 stitches & 2 rows = 1″

This will give you approximately an 8″ x 8″ square. You can add a sc border around the square or leave it as is.
