Gray Shells Scarf

Materials:

• Approximately 312 yds of Category 5 Bulky Yarn;  I used Lion Brand Scarfie Yarn* in the Silver/Charcoal colorway
• Size L 8mm Crochet Hook*
• Yarn Needle* for weaving ends
• Scissors*

Abbreviations:

ch – chain
dc – double crochet
dc2tog – double crochet two stitches together
sc – single crochet
sk – skip
st(s) – stitch(es)
sp(s) – space(s)
t-ch – turning chain
() – indicates stitch counts
* – indicates instructions to be repeated

Gauge:

11.8 stitches & 4.8 rows = 4″

Finished Size:

Approximately 7″ wide and 70″ long

Multiple:

4 + 2

Notes:

• This pattern is written in US terms.
• Sizing will vary depending on how tightly or loosely you crochet. Gauge is not necessary for this pattern but if you would like to keep the sizing the same, please check your gauge before starting this project.

Instructions:

Ch 22
Row 1: [1 sc, ch 3, 4 dc] all into the 2nd ch from hook, *sk the next 3 sts, [1 sc, ch 3, 4 dc] into the next st; Repeat from * until there are 4 sts remaining, sk the next 3 sts, 1 sc into the last st, turn. (5 shells)
Row 2: Ch 3 (count as 1 dc), sk the first st *sk 1 dc, dc2tog over the next 2 sts, ch 3, sk 1 dc, 1 sc into the next ch-3 sp; Repeat from * across, turn. (5 ch-3 sps, 5 dc2tog, 5 sc sts)
Row 3: Ch 1, [1 sc, ch 3, 4 dc] into the first st, *sk ch-3 and next st, [1 sc, ch 3, 4 dc] into the next sc; Repeat from * across, sk last ch-3 sp and dc2tog, 1 sc into the t-ch, turn. (5 shells)
Row 4-85: Repeat Rows 2-3
Row 86: Repeat Row 2, fasten off.

Finish:

• Weave in all ends.
