Welcome to the Scarf of the Month Club!

I am so excited about the 3 new gorgeous scarf/cowl patterns that we have for you for the month of September!

If you are new to the Scarf of the Month Club, it is a series of free scarf/cowl patterns that are created by The Stitchin’ Mommy (me!) and Oombawka Design. Every month, Rhondda and I will each share one free crochet pattern for a scarf, infinity scarf, or cowl/neckwarmer, through December 2016. Plus, as a bonus, we have some amazing Mystery Designers that will also be providing free scarf patterns. By December, you will have 36 scarf/cowl patterns to choose from to make as gifts or create for yourself!

Materials:

• Approximately 212 yds of Category 6 super bulky yarn in 2 colors:
  • Approximately 106 yds (1 skein) of Color A, I used Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick & Quick in Spice*
  • Approximately 106 yds (1 skein) of Color B, I used Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick & Quick in Pumpkin*
• Size N 9 mm Crochet Hook*
• Yarn Needle* for weaving ends
• Scissors*

Abbreviations:

ch – chain
hdc – half double crochet
dc – double crochet
RS – right side
sc – single crochet
sk – skip
st(s) – stitch(es)
t-ch – turning chain
WS – wrong side
[] – work instructions into stitch as directed
() – indicates stitch counts
* – indicates instructions to be repeated

Gauge:

11.2 stitches & 6.8 rows = 4″

Finished Size:

Approximately 8″ wide and 36″ long before seamed

Multiple:

3+2

Notes:

• This pattern is written in US terms.
• Sizing will vary depending on how tightly or loosely you crochet. Gauge is not necessary for this pattern but if you would like to keep the sizing the same, please check your gauge before starting this project.
• This pattern is worked flat and then seamed at the end to form a cowl.

Instructions:

With Color A,
Ch 23
Row 1 (RS): [1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc] into the 2nd ch from hook, *sk the next 2 sts, [1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc] into the next st** Repeat from * to ** across until there are 3 sts remaining, sk the next 2 sts, 1 sc into the last st, turn. (22)
Row 2 (WS): Ch 1, [1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc] into the first st, *sk the next 2 sts, [1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc] into the next st** Repeat from * to ** across until there are 3 sts remaining, sk the next 2 sts, 1 sc into the last st, turn. (22)
Row 3-9: Repeat Row 2
Row 10: Repeat Row 2, change to Color B in last yarn over of last st.
Row 11-19: Repeat Row 2
Row 20: Repeat Row 2, change to Color A in last yarn over of last st.
Row 21-30: Repeat Rows 3-10
Row 31-40: Repeat Rows 11-20
Row 41-50: Repeat Rows 3-10
Row 51-59: Repeat Rows 11-19
Row 60: Repeat Row 2, fasten off, leave a long tail for sewing.

Finish:

• With the RS facing out, use the yarn tail and yarn needle to sew the two ends together using the whip stitch or mattress seam method.
• Weave all ends.
