Around this time of year, everything outside just looks so boring and covered in snow at home, lacking much color so I decided to liven things up and make some tiny colorful octopuses! I started with one but thought they were so cute that I made 4 colorful friends for the original one! I wrote this pattern myself so if there are any mistakes, please let me know and I’ll try to fix or clarify the issue. -Madi
Mini Crochet Octopus Plush Pattern
- 1 light worsted weight yarn (I used pink, green, blue, purple, and orange Lion Heart Bonbons yarn)
- Size D crochet hook
- Tapestry needle (for weaving in ends)
- 6mm solid black eyes
- Fiberfill stuffing
sc – Single crochet
ss – Slip Stitch
ch – Chain
inc – 2 sc in one stitch
dec – Skip one stitch
6 stitches and 6 rows = 1″ x 1″
1″ x 1″ x 1″
(Work in rounds)
Round 1: sc 5 into a magic ring.
Round 2: inc around.
Round 3: sc inc around.
Round 4: sc sc inc around.
Rounds 5-6: sc around.
Round 7: sc sc dec around.
Round 8: sc dec around.
Add eyes to the appropriate positions and stuff. SS closed and weave in ends.
Round 1: ch 20 and ss into the first stitch so there is a ring.
Round 2: ss into the 1st stitch then sc 4 into the next stitch. Repeat that process 9 times around.
Weave in ends and then attach to the body below the eyes.
Congrats, one octopus complete! Enjoy!
