Striped Cross-Stitch Headband – Free Pattern

It is so cold out here in my place and raining heavily. So I thought I would make a headband for myself to stay warm. I made a quick and easy headband using a cross-stitch pattern.

Striped Cross-Stitch Headband

Materials:
- 25% Wool, 75% Premium Acrylic Yarn – {I used Nako Sport Wool in Blue and Grey}
- 6.5mm crochet hook (Yarn recommends 7mm hook)
- Tapestry Needle to weave in the ends
- Scissors
Abbreviations:
ch – chain
ss – slip stich
hcc – half double crochet
dc – double crochet
Gauge:
[HDC – 6 stitches and 4 rows = 2” x 2”]
Finished Size:
To fit an adult with head circumference 19” – 22.5”
Notes:
- Ch 1 or Ch 2 in the beginning of the round doesn’t count as a stitch.
- Rounds 1, 2, 4 and 6 using Blue Yarn.
- Rounds 3 and 5 using Grey Yarn.
Instructions:
{with Blue and Grey yarn alternatively}
Round 1: Ch 54. SS with the first chain to form a ring making sure not to twist it. [54]
Round 2: Ch 2. 1 HDC in the same stitch. 1 HDC around till the end. SS with the first HDC made. [54]
Round 3: Ch 2. 1 DC in the same stitch and 1 DC in each of next three stitches. *(Skip one stitch, 1 DC in the next, 1 DC in the previous stitch)* Repeat from *to* till last four stitches. 1 DC in each of the last four stitches. SS with the first DC made. [54]
Round 4: Ch 1. 1 SC in the same stitch and in each stitch around. SS with the first SC made. [54]
Round 5: Repeat Round (3).
Round 6: Repeat Round (2).
Fasten off and weave in the ends.
So easy isn’t it? I made this one within an hour and I am already using it. You can make in any color you like and in any size to fit your kids or husband or anyone. Just make the initial chain adjustment to fit your head circumference and continue the rest making necessary changes accordingly.
