There was a point in my life, not too long ago, that I didn’t eat breakfast. That’s right, I skipped the most important meal of the day, on a daily basis. I was always too busy or didn’t have enough time to sit down and eat a bowl of cereal let alone make breakfast. Nowadays, I know the importance of having breakfast but still don’t have too much time to prepare it. During the week, Kaylee and I are always on the go and I’m always looking for something quick and easy to fill me up before heading out. It also has to be good for me too and have all of the vitamins and nutrients I need to keep me going. I’ve been on a smoothie kick lately and it’s been working out well for me. That’s why I’m excited to share my Strawberry Vanilla Almond Smoothie with you that is made with Carnation Breakfast Essentials

I picked up some Carnation Breakfast Essentials at my local Walmart (my favorite place in the world!) I figured that the individual powder packets would be convenient and add some necessary vitamins and protein to my smoothie. Carnation Breakfast Essentials has 21 vitamins and minerals, 13 grams of protein, and as much calcium as a 6 oz cup of yogurt (more nutrition information available here.) Plus, it comes in a bunch of great flavors that would work great in any smoothie recipe.

I can’t wait for you to try this recipe! It’s made with frozen strawberries and almond milk. I love using almond milk in my smoothies because it’s heart healthy and is high in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals. I freeze my own strawberries solely for making smoothies so that I don’t have to add any extra ice to water it down. If you don’t freeze your own, you can always buy frozen strawberries from your supermarket. Here’s the recipe:

I didn’t feel the need to add any sweetener but if you find that the smoothie is not sweet enough for you, add a touch of honey or agave.

I wanted to share some photos of my little one finishing off the rest of my smoothie mix but she hasn’t been well and she refused to take any pictures (which is definitely a first!) Maybe I’ll get some photos of her next time!

I hope you give this recipe a try and enjoy it! To further entice you, Walmart is offering a coupon for Carnation Breakfast Essentials! For more great smoothie recipes using Carnation Breakfast Essentials, visit their recipe page!
