Easy Crochet Ripple Blanket

One of my nieces is having a baby boy soon and of course I had to carry on my baby blanket tradition. I wanted to make her a blanket that I haven’t made before and since ripple blankets are all the rage right now I decided to try my hand at one. I hope you enjoy the pattern! Happy Crocheting!

BLO – back loop only
ch(s)
– chain(s)
dc – double crochet
dc dec – double crochet decrease
sc – single crochet
sk – skip(ped)
st(s) – stitch(es)
t-ch – turning chain
() – indicates stitch counts
* – indicates instructions to be repeated

Gauge:

12.4 sts & 5.2 rows = 4″

Finished Size:

Approximately 32″ x 33″

Multiple:

14+3

Notes:

  • This pattern is written in US terms.
  • Sizing will vary depending on how tightly or loosely you crochet. If you would like to keep the sizing the same, please check your gauge before starting this project.
  • All color changes are made in the last yarn over of the last stitch of the row.

Instructions:

With Color A, Ch 115
Row 1: 1 dc into the 4th ch from hook (sk ch-3 counts as first dc), *1 dc into each of the next 4 sts, [dc dec] twice, 1 dc into each of the next 4 sts, [2 dc into the next st] twice; Repeat from * across, work 2 dc into the last st, turn. (112 sts)
Row 2: Ch 3 (count as 1 dc), 1 dc into the first st, working into the BLO, *1 dc into each of the next 4 sts, [dc dec] twice, 1 dc into each of the next 4 sts, [2 dc into the next st] twice; Repeat from * across, work 2 dc into the t-ch, turn. (112 sts)
Row 3-5: Repeat Row 2

Change to Color B

Row 6-10: Repeat Row 2

Change to Color C

Row 11-15: Repeat Row 2

Change to Color A

Row 16-20: Repeat Row 2

Change to Color B

Row 21-25: Repeat Row 2

Change to Color C

Row 26-30: Repeat Row 2

Change to Color A

Row 31-35: Repeat Row 2

Change to Color B

Row 36-40: Repeat Row 2

Change to Color C

Row 41-45: Repeat Row 2

Change to Color A

Row 46-49: Repeat Row 2
Row 50: Repeat Row 2, fasten off, weave all ends.

Finish:

  • To finish, join trim color to the last st in Row 50 with a sl st.
  • Ch 1, turn, sc across Row 50 and evenly around entire blanket working 3 sts into each corner.
  • Join in beginning sc.
  • Fasten off and weave ends.
